What everyday work looks like after replacing SaaS

We replace expensive SaaS with a version built for you and keep it running. You pay nothing during the build.

You pay for what you use
You do not pay for features you do not use.
The service fits how you work
It has the features you need.
A small change takes one message
When you need a small change, you ask us directly, and it is included in the monthly fee.
Prices are agreed in advance
Usage tiers are agreed in advance, and the price does not change without notice.
You know where your data is
It is stored in Europe and, when needed, in Finland.

How replacing SaaS works

  1. Free assessment

We go through what you need, how much data the service holds and what your current solution costs. After that you have an estimate of the monthly fee and know whether this is worth it. If the replacement would not cost less than what you pay today, we will tell you before we build anything. If you go ahead, the terms go into a contract before we build.

  2. Build

We build a version of the features you need and move your data into it.

  3. Running it

We keep the service running and take care of security and updates.

What to know about replacing a SaaS product

What does this cost?

You pay for the part you use, and we can reuse the same code in other services, which is why the price can come in below what you pay today.

There is no separate build fee, and the monthly fee and contract period start only when the service is in use.

The monthly fee follows usage tiers agreed with you, based on how much your users use the service, how much data it holds and how much data is brought into it.

The minimum contract period is six months, and the price does not change without notice. Small changes are included in the monthly fee.

Who owns the code, and what happens if we stop working together?

kalle.works owns the code and may reuse it in other services. The data is yours, and you take it with you. The service ends when we stop working together, so we agree the notice period and data handover in the contract before we build anything.

Where is the data, and how do we review security?

We store your data in Europe and, when needed, in Finland. Our main partners are Cloudflare, Bunny, Hetzner and Google Cloud. Send us your security questionnaire and we will answer it in writing during the assessment.

When is this a good fit, and when is it not?

It fits small and mid-sized companies that find a SaaS price too high or use only part of the service. Core systems with many integrations or certification requirements are usually not worth replacing this way.

A system nobody looks after any more?

We assess its condition, take it over as it is and tell you whether it is worth modernising. We have looked after custom PHP ERP systems, for example.

Assessment
We assess the condition of the system and its risks. The price of running it is agreed after the assessment.
Takeover
We take over running the system for a monthly fee. The code of the old system stays yours.
Modernisation
We modernise the system only if it is worth it. Modernisation is priced separately.

Experience and our own services

Kalle Lamminpää has worked on production systems since 2012, including the monitoring platform of a large Finnish organisation, the infrastructure of a SaaS company and custom ERP systems. We do not name clients on this page.

We have built our own versions of services we could have bought. These are running now:

Other services

Consulting
Technical direction, architecture, assessing existing systems and procurement support.
New web services
From first version to production, including integrations.
Infrastructure and operations
Infrastructure, security and monitoring, including large WordPress sites.

Tell us which service or system you have in mind.

If you already pay for a service, tell us the current bill too. Assessing a SaaS replacement is free, and we will tell you whether this is worth it for you.
